How to Register for the Online Format of SHP-2000

  • Please note: Non-supervisors only need to complete one version of SHP-2000, either via the online format or a classroom session.
  • Log into Axess using your SUNet ID and password.
  • After login, find the link for “STARS” in the menu at the top of the page.
  • Under the “STARS” menu, select “Search Catalog.”
  • Enter the course number “SHP-2000” into the search catalog field and click on the “Search” button. 
  • The online course, SHP-2000-WEB, is listed under the classroom sessions. Click the “Launch” button when you are ready to begin taking it.
  • If you exit the program, go to your "All Learning" page in STARS to relaunch.
  • You can pause the course and exit any time; when you return to it, the course should “bookmark” where you left off. If you pause the course during the playing of a video, the video will resume at the beginning.
  • There are no fees associated with this course.

How to Register for a Classroom Session of SHP-2000

  • Please note: Non-supervisors only need to complete one version of SHP-2000, either via the online format or a classroom session.
  • Log into Axess using your SUNet ID and password.
  • After login, find the link for “STARS” in the menu at the top of the page.
  • Under the “STARS” menu, select “Search Catalog.”
  • To enroll in a classroom session, select the “Continue” button to access the available sessions.
  • Register by clicking on the "Enroll" button next to the classroom session you wish to attend.
  • Shortly after you register, you should receive an email from STARS to your Stanford email address containing the location, date and time of the class. (Be sure to check your junk mail folder.)
  • There are no fees associated with this course.
  • If you are on the wait list, come to class. There are usually extra seats available, so it is likely that you will be able to participate and receive full credit.
  • If you are driving, please allow at least 30-40 minutes of extra time to find parking, navigate the building and locate the classroom. Parking permits are NOT provided.
